Mar 2010 to Present - Sullivans Garden Machinery - Web Developer
Working as the lead developer for a small garden machinery company, I have been set the task of building an ecommerce presence for the company from scratch. Using open source software Joomla and Virtuemart I have created a search engine friendly site with a product feed that inserts products to the Google shopping results on a daily basis.
I have also installed and configured Google Analytics on the company’s website to track ecommerce conversions, utilizing the goals and funnel utilities to provide valuable data to help increase conversions. The role also involves regularly checking competitor websites for prices and promotions. We do this to keep the website up to date and to retain customers by offering the best deals on our products.
Sep 2008 to Feb 2010 - Digital Frames Limited - Web Developer
Working as the lead developer for a small online retailer, successfully developping, maintaining and growing numerous e-commerce web sites for the business. I have enjoyed helping the company grow by implementing better structure to the web sites, and improving the companies understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). I also maintained the companies computer systems, managed and developed the in house network by implementing a shared network hard drive.
My main duties in this role included the development and maintenance of database driven websites. This involves using the open source content management system Joomla! CMS (www.Joomla.org) and shopping carts VirtueMart (www.VirtueMart.net) & Magento e-commerce (www.Magentoeccomerce.com). Additional responsibilities included maintaining rankings in the SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages). This was achieved by managing, maintaining and improving the companies SEO strategies.
